It’s the latest news in the US trucking industry and across various social media trucking networks — “Truckers to Shut Down America” will make its move through a massive convoy to Washington, D.C. on October 11 thru 13, 2013. The said three-day movement invites all truck drivers and supporters to let their sentiments be heard. Apparently, many followers had been expressing their support for the cause in any way they can.
More than the 80,000 “Likes” stirred from the three-day plan, and more followers have been exerting effort to support the cause in a way that invites more people to back up the movement. Many posts have sprung like SuzzaneHamner of Freedom Outpostas she wrote, “As much as I realize that this shutdown could cause lots of unintended problems for American people (and not just the government and big business) I will support this event in any way I can. If momentum grows I will publicize it again to try help the cause. If these men and women can pull this off then the sacrifice would be shared by all. We need to understand that. It may make life inconvenient for a short time, but it will take bold actions to get the attention of those in D.C.”
Dean Garrison of The D.C. Clothesline added, “It is estimated there are approximately 150,000 independent/ owner-operators across the country. If every one of those truckers descended onWashington DC, it would make more than a big statement. Adding patriotic company drivers would increase the message. By halting the transport of goods throughout the country and ceasing all money transactions and shopping for three days, it would signal a nationwide peaceful protest against the tyranny in Washington. I, for one, intend to support the trucker community in their endeavors. That should come as no surprise from someone who was described as an “ignorant, stupid, brain dead right-wing woman” since the family trucking company will be participating.”
Karl Denninger in support also said, “If we get just 10% of America on board the entire game changes.Especially when the business world — and government — realize that the next one is Black Friday weekend”.
Allegedly, the movement was ignited by a Facebook page, “Truckers to Shut Down America”, launched by Zeeda Andrews (aka Zeeda Hutton). Andrews said in the “Guerilla Media Network”, an online radio show, “The people that can’t get out there can simply do nothing. Prepare yourself for it – no commerce, no banking, no shopping. Enjoy your family that day. We’ll encourage everybody to assemble peacefully.”
Apparently, the page has been deleted in September 21 after gathering more than 80,000 “Likes.” Now, they have a new page ridefortheconstitution.org with a flyer which says, “American truckers are … great patriots, and they are all well aware of what is happening to our U.S. Constitution. Through this campaign, they are leading the convoy of all Americans coast to coast who wish to restore our Constitutional Republic. America is calling out to our Patriots, and if any group can help lead the charge to save our nation, it’s the U.S. Truckers”.
The ridefortheconstitution.org, owned by Pete Santili, serves as the central information for the massive convoy. Everyone planning to join and support the convoy may refer to the page.
Overall, the trucker strike was said to have been fueled by the rampant corruption in America. Not only that, the people are also said to be fed up with jobs becoming more and more difficult to find, wages dropping, and escalating fuel prices.
