“DRUNKEN INDIAN FOUND IN MY SLEEPER!!”

Surprise Found in my Sleeper

This happened in 2006 at the flying J in Winslow, Arizona.  I was doing a team run from phoenix to Columbus, Ohio.  I was sleeping when rob stopped to get some coffee.  He parked on the fuel island, and ran in to get a cup.  I was sleeping off a three day weekend of chasing wild women in phoenix.  We were rolling maybe 1 hour when i felt something rub my leg.  So i turned on the bunk light only to see a drunken Indian on the floor.  I was shocked i did not know what to say.  I opened the curtain, and asked rob hey do you know this guy?  “He did a double take”,  and screamed hey what the ****, who the hell are you.  Rob pulled over on the shoulder, and we woke him up,  and asked him what the hell!!   He said he was  drunk so he climbed in the sleeper to sleep.  Rob left the door unlocked something i told him to never do!  We made the Indian get out right there 1 hour away from his home.  That was one of the weirdest thing’s to ever happen to me on the road. “HOW TO BEAT A SPEEDING TICKET”

How To Beat A Speeding Ticket

Everyone want’s to know how to do this?  I’ve beat several in court so i know some secret’s.  I beat one ticket when the officer forgot who i was in court!  I beat another one with Arizona  reasonable, and prudent laws.  Look that law up on google you should know it!  First never admit guilt!!!   If the officer asks you,  do you know the speed limit here?   Answer no sir im not sure.  Never argue try to be normal not out of the ordinary. “Act ignorant”, and scared you might get a warning if he believes you did not know you were speeding.   Remember everything around you!   How many car’s pass, and what colors.  I one time asked the officer, remember the red car that passed us?  He did not remember, so i asked him how can you remember it was me speeding then? I remember the car why didn’t you?  That shook him up, and he started to stutter in front of the judge.  If you get a ticket,  delay the court as long as you can!  Keep getting  continuances as many times as they will let you.  This is very important as the officer will forget the details, or may change his job then you win.  Also request the officer get his radar gun certified, and mention in court that your speedometer is off.  Get the officer on the stand, It’s your right to question him about everything Ask him what was the weather that day, and how many other trucks there were on the road.  This is only my opinion results may vary Ho Ho, always have a lawyer.  Let him do the work for you he will win !  My lawyer out of phoenix wins 75% of the time. These are just some step’s you can take to beat a speeding ticket.  The best way to not get a ticket is,  don’t get caught!  GONZOTRUCKER

The Shortage Of Parking Facilities Has Truckers Looking For Options

Trucker pictures No Parking

Many truckers have found that driving a big rig is no longer as rewarding or safe as it once was. With a growing number of problems related to parking shortages for their trucks, especially along major commercial corridors, many drivers have reverted to parking along entrances and exits to freeways and highways. Unfortunately, this can create a safety hazard, not only for the driver, but for other people using this access points, as well.

Some states are allocating funds to develop additional parking spaces for these commercial truck drivers; however, along some of the freight corridors that are most heavily traveled, there is still a significant shortage of available parking spaces. Additionally an innovative method of notifying truckers of available parking facilities is still in the planning stages. The funds for these improvements have been allocated by the federal government to individual state’s departments of transportation with a state-federal government split of 80/20 in most cases.

As part of an initiative to find an effective solution to the problem of insufficient parking for commercial truckers, SAFETEA-LU has developed a pilot program for truck parking facilities. There are efforts underway to address this critical issue, but the problem still exists. Truckers are required to limit their number of hours in service; however, meeting this safety regulation is an ongoing challenge when sufficient long term parking options are not available.

In many areas, truck stops routinely exceed capacity and the overflow spills out onto side streets and grassy areas. These problems are especially prominent in heavily traveled corridors and the problem seems to be escalating. One factor that has added to the problem is the cross-country traffic spurned on by the NAFTA. The North American Free Trade Agreement has opened up a deluge of commercial traffic through the state of Texas, much of it coming through the Metroplex and I-35 corridor. Texas is certainly one of the states that is in immediate need of additional parking facilities for truckers.

Texas is working on improvements to many of its rest areas in an effort to expand available truck parking and as funds become available, outdated rest areas will be converted into areas dedicated for truck parking. Obviously, with more and more truckers on the road, the need for even more appropriate parking facilities simply grows. Meeting this demand is essential so that truckers are not forced to operate their trucks beyond safety limits or when drowsy. Truckers need a place to pull over and rest, when needed. Unfortunately, in some areas, there is simply no such place.

Private enterprises, such as NATSO, the National Association of Travel Plazas and Truckstops, take the position that they are able to handle this increased burden and can provide adequate parking for commercial truckers. The Texas Department of Transportation is reluctant to go into some areas and build additional parking facilities because of the high cost and inherent competitive environment it would face with existing private enterprise locations; however, many truckers feel that NATSO and government efforts have not been able to keep up with demand.

“HOW TO BE A TRUCK DRIVER” “NO TRUCK PARKING ALLOWED”

No truck parking sign in a huge empty parking lot!  Wow why would that be there?  ”There is a big truck parking shortage in the USA”, and “it’s” getting worse.  “The federal government requires us to take a break”,  but does not provide enough parking!  “Shit happens”  so we can’t always find a proper place to sleep.  For instance i planned on parking at the truck stop, but you delayed unloading me.  “Now im out of driving hours allowed by law”, and you will not allow to park in your empty lot!  “So you expect me to break the law”, and drive to a truck stop that probably has no parking spot’s left!  Then what about the safety of your family?  Do you want a sleepy truck driver roaming around looking for a place to sleep? We need more parking,  and business needs to be more understanding!  What do you think about this?  Leave your comments below this post.  Gonzotrucker

So you want to be a truck driver.

SO YOU WANT TO BE A TRUCK DRIVER?

See the country and earn big money doing it.  Well there is more to it then what you think.  ”It’s” a job first and foremost.  So there is a lot to think about before you decide truck driving is for you.  First do you really want to be away from home for two weeks at a time?  Driving eleven hours a day sometimes in heavy rush traffic.  Other times waiting to be loaded and unloaded for hours at a time.

As far as seeing the beautiful countryside guess again your going to the industrial park.  Not to mention all the rules and regulations you must follow.  You can’t just park anywhere and go into the park to bird watch!  You will get a ticket if you park in the wrong place.  Everywhere you look is no truck parking, fines and towing fees can run into the thousands of dollars. Sometimes when your dog tired you can’t even find a place to park and sleep.   Other times the truck stops are full no parking available so no shower or food tonight.  Then the weigh stations and dot officers.  ”If’ you’re not legal”, and sometimes if you are they will inspect every inch of your truck and paperwork.

There can be fines and you don’t get paid for sitting around getting inspected.  Then there are also breakdowns  you don’t get paid for this with most companies and the ones that do pay you don’t pay much.  So in conclusion there is a lot to think about before deciding the trucker life is for you. There is a lot more than just what i have published today ask a trucker at your local truck stop. Most will be glad to answer any question you have.  Be safe out there and have a great day.
