I agree, I have been with Walmart for 18 1/2 years. Great people, pay and benefits. Lots of choices for work schedules. We always run legal, never pushed or pressured.

  2. Wal-Mart is a great company to work for. I have many friends who work for them, and they have no complaints.

  3. What factors did you look at to make your decsion. Pay is important but respect for the drivers means a lot to me

  4. John I looked at both Truck Driver Salary, and respect the companies give the drivers. These companies are just my opinion and yours may vary. There are a lot more great companies out there. If you know of a great company besides the ones I listed please feel free to share. That way we can help other Truckers find great cdl jobs. Thank you for the comment.

  6. Yes It Is hard work at Mclane but the pay makes the job worth it. You will earn more than 90%of OTR drivers who just sit and drive all day.

  7. Is Walmart the top pick of the list since it is number one? Why do you like it , pay, benefits or work schedule?

  8. Are any of these companies union?

  9. Kris I picked Wal-Mart as my top pick of trucking companies based on the salary, and benefits. They are the top in the nation. Roadway, UPS, and ABF are all 3 union the others are not.

Your list seems well thought-out, if the driver is looking for ‘dedicated’ or regional work.
I’ve driven for Transport American, for M.S. Carriers (before it ‘folded’ into Swift) as well as Crete Carrier Corp (both company and Owner-Operator).
I’m from the days when Mr Dwayne Acklie ‘ran the show’ at Crete. Mr Acklie was the best company owner anyone could ask for; his son-in-law, not-so-much!
While at Crete, I tried the dedicated board: General Mills cereals. I had to go back to the National Board to get some rest!! On dedicated, the company ran the drivers to the limits of the logbook. Nothing illegal, just right to the limit. The DRIVER was always the final arbiter of “run vs rest!!”
I was forced out by the DOT (I’ve become a needle-dependent diabetic) or I’d still be working for Crete.
